Emellin de Oliveira é Sócia da Paxlegal responsável pela área de Direitos Humanos, desenvolvendo a sua prática jurídica no âmbito do Direito da Imigração, Direito do Asilo e dos Refugiados, bem como do contencioso estratégico na tutela de direitos humanos e fundamentais.

Enquanto Advogada dedicada às áreas dos Direitos Humanos e da Imigração, presta assessoria jurídica a particulares e famílias em matérias relacionadas com vistos, autorizações de residência, proteção internacional, reagrupamento familiar e regularização documental, acompanhando igualmente processos de detenção administrativa de cidadãos estrangeiros. A sua intervenção estende-se ainda a casos de violência doméstica e de género, assédio laboral, discriminação e xenofobia.

Integra o International Migration and International Law Committee da International Law Association, representando a Sociedade Portuguesa de Direito Internacional, e é perita nacional (Portugal) da rede MoveS, dedicada à mobilidade intra-UE. Faz igualmente parte da rede do Conselho da Europa de advogadas e organizações dedicadas ao apoio a mulheres vítimas de violência.

Paralelamente à sua prática jurídica, desenvolve uma sólida carreira académica e de investigação. É Investigadora do CEDIS – Centro de Investigação & Desenvolvimento sobre Direito e Sociedade, Coordenadora e Docente da Pós-Graduação em Direito da Imigração e da Nacionalidade da NOVA School of Law Executive Education, bem como Doutoranda na NOVA School of Law. É ainda Co-Fundadora e Coordenadora Executiva do NOVA Asylum Policy Lab e membro do Observatório de Proteção de Dados.

Emellin de Oliveira is a Partner at Paxlegal, leading the firm’s Human Rights practice, with a particular focus on Immigration, Asylum and Refugee Law, as well as on strategic litigation concerning human rights and the protection of fundamental rights.

As a Human Rights and Immigration Attorney, she advises individuals and families on matters relating to visas, residence permits, international protection, family reunification and immigration regularisation procedures. She also assists clients in cases involving the administrative detention of foreign nationals. Her practice further extends to matters concerning domestic and gender-based violence, workplace harassment, discrimination and xenophobia.

She is a member of the International Migration and International Law Committee of the International Law Association, representing the Portuguese Society of International Law, and serves as the Portuguese national expert within the MoveS network, dedicated to intra-EU mobility. She is also part of the Council of Europe network of lawyers and organisations specialising in legal assistance to women victims of violence.

Alongside her legal practice, Emellin maintains a strong academic and research profile. She is a Researcher at CEDIS – Centre for Research & Development on Law and Society, Coordinator and Lecturer of the Postgraduate Programme in Immigration and Nationality Law at NOVA School of Law Executive Education, and a PhD Candidate at NOVA School of Law. She is also Co-Founder and Executive Coordinator of NOVA Asylum Policy Lab, and a member of the Data Protection Observatory.
